EYFS and KS1 Problem Solving Event 2019

On Tuesday 12th February parents and carers from EYFS and KS1 were invited into school to join their child in some problem solving maths activities. The hall was laid out with a variety of activities ranging from ordering numbers on a number line, programming Beebots, finding missing numbers, exploring repeating patterns and measuring lengths. A table displaying information and resources was available which proved to be very popular. Each classroom was also laid out with a selection of problem solving tasks and parents were encouraged to take a seat and join their child in some mathematical fun. 

 

It was a pleasure to watch the Year 5 children confidently welcome the parents into the school and take on the responsibility of delivering and facilitating one of the activities with enthusiasm. As I stood in the hall and walked between the classrooms you could really feel the buzz and the children were very enthusiastic and enjoyed being able to share their learning with their adult. 

 

Overall the event was a success and as you can see from the photographs below was well received by all those that attended.
